Outreach & Education

Primary Prevention of Sexual Assault Programs

Our Primary Prevention Programs include Ask, Listen, Respect for high school students, Safe Dates for middle school students, and Care for Kids for parents and their children ages 3-8. All are multi-session programs designed to be delivered over several days or weeks.

Ask, Listen, Respect – ALR is a school-based prevention program for high school students that expands on the Safe Dates curriculum.  It is designed to create an environment for open discussion and discoveries that lead to positive behavioral changes related to dating, consent, intimate relationships, and awareness, and to create a culture of consent and respect.

Safe Dates is a school-based prevention program for middle school students designed to stop or prevent the initiation of dating violence victimization and perpetration, including the psychological, physical, and sexual abuse that may occur between youths involved in a dating relationship.

Care for Kids contains 6 units: Asking for Help, Feelings, Bodies, Babies, Asking for Permission and Wrap-Up. Each unit teaches and reinforces 2 to 4 simple, age-appropriate messages via a circle time, a book, and an activity or craft. Children in this age group are receptive to learning about body parts, health and boundaries, making this an ideal time to lay the foundation for abuse prevention.
