SANE Exams – Sexual Assault Nurse Exams
Physical examination from Nurse after assault has happened.
These are medical and forensic exams that include:
- STD Prevention
- Pregnancy Prevention
- Forensic Evidence Collection
- Injury Documentation
It is critical that you receive an exam as soon as possible after the assault occurs. The timeframes for our Exams are:
- Age 13 and over: 5 days
- Age 12 and under: 3 days
- Delayed Disclosure Exams: for age 12 and under that disclose after the 3 day acute window
Rape Crisis Advocacy Program
We offer a rape crisis advocacy program which provides support at the time of the SANE Exam, resources and referrals, support and education, and court accompaniment.
Counseling/therapy is a very important part of the healing process. Our counselor has over 17 years of experience working with survivors of sexual assault. She is available Tues, Weds, and Thurs at our office. Call for an appointment: 325-2805.

Sexual Assault Services of New Mexico strives to educate the community on prevention and awareness. Our programs include:
Care for Kids (ages 4-7)

Other Topics: Child Sexual Abuse Awareness and Prevention, Healthy Sexuality in Children, Sexual Assault 101, Mandatory Reporting, Healthy Relationships, Teen Dating Violence, LGBTQ Education
We are administrators of the Community Justice for Survivors of Sexual Violence Project. This program provides free legal services to survivors over the age of 18. Our Legal Advocate can help with the following:
- Ability to work and support yourself, attend school and succeed, maintain a place to live, manage your credit/debit, and have appropriate health care
- Access to safety
- Right to Privacy
- Civil Rights
We also have connections to several other organizations who can also help you through recovery from a sexual assault.
